Our initiatives are a blueprint for economic success.
The Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation (Metro Denver EDC) launched its BreakThrough! Denver campaign in 2004, which raised $13.3 million to restore the region's economic vitality following the post 9/11 high-tech fallout.
The Blue Sky Committee, comprised of Metro Denver's top business leaders, identified six strategic areas in 2004 in which to focus our energy over five years. The overarching goal – creating 100,000 new jobs by 2008:
- Mobility - create a region that proactively solves its traffic and congestion problems
- Tax Reform - develop a tax and regulatory environment that encourages business development
- Existing Business - develop and expand the region's business base
- National Marketing - promote Metro Denver's business assets and top industries
- Denver International Airport/International Flights - develop more international flights to advance global business
- Special Opportunities - capitalize on opportunities as they arise to act in the region's business interests
By mid-2007, that goal was realized with over 101,000 jobs created. The Blue Sky Committee convened again this summer to chart a new course and initiatives for the Metro Denver EDC. Watch for more information as we unveil new plans to further our economic growth over the next five years!
