The nation is looking to Colorado to lead the new energy economy.

As the "Balanced Energy Capital of the West," Colorado has all the resources that support sustainability – plus the surroundings that inspire it. The integration of renewable energy and the state’s rich energy resource base puts Metro Denver at the forefront of new energy development for the nation.

Colorado ranked fourth in the country for renewable energy and energy research employment concentration and 10th for fossil energy employment in 2007. Overall, the energy industry cluster employs 47,000 people.

The state offers world-class energy research centers and universities such as the Colorado School of Mines (CSM), the only university in the nation to offer baccalaureate through doctorate degrees in all key energy fields and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the nation's primary laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency R&D.

In addition, a new research partnership between NREL, the Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State University, and the University of Colorado – coined the Colorado Renewable Energy Collaboratory – is working closely with the private sector to develop renewable energy technologies for rapid commercialization.

And there's further momentum to move Colorado's new energy economy forward with the state's renewable portfolio standard of 20 percent as well creation of the state’s first-ever Climate Action Plan. Complimenting these efforts is Greenprint Denver, a comprehensive sustainability initiative, and the newly established Colorado Energy Coalition, which is working to advance Colorado's diverse energy industry.

Plus we're home to a pool of talented scientists, engineers, researchers, and executives who love living here. You'll definitely find all of the resources you need to energize your company in Metro Denver.
